How Fair-File works

Move from scattered records to a source-linked working file.

Fair-File gives you a structured, neutral way to organize what you already have. You decide what to include, and you remain responsible for accuracy.

01

1. Preserve the source

Keep original files, complete message threads, and the record context intact. Create organizational copies only when needed.

  • Record the original filename and source
  • Keep user notes separate from the record
  • Mark items that are incomplete, disputed, or unreviewed
02

2. Add structure

Connect a record to a date, person, issue, and chronology event. The goal is a readable case file—not a pile of labels.

  • Parenting arrangements and exchanges
  • Communications and decisions
  • Court or agency records
  • Deadlines and follow-up
03

3. Review what the record supports

A source-linked structure makes it easier to distinguish a user assertion from an independent record or court finding.

  • User assertion
  • Source-linked item
  • Independent record
  • Court finding with citation
04

4. Prepare a working package

Use the organized material to prepare for a lawyer, mediation, court process, appeal, or personal review. Fair-File does not file documents or determine their admissibility.
